Cookie Policy

Last updated: 17 October 2026

This page explains the cookies and similar technologies used on the Mathsomatic website, and how you can control them. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website saves in your browser. Some are essential for a site to work securely. Others remember your choices or let embedded content, such as videos, work properly. Websites can also store small amounts of information in your browser's “local storage”, which works in a similar way.

How we use cookies

We keep cookies to a minimum. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not use cookies to track you across other websites.

When you first visit, our cookie banner asks for your consent. Only strictly necessary cookies are used until you make a choice. You can change your mind at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page.

Strictly necessary

These keep the website secure and remember your cookie choices. They can't be switched off.
  • Cookie consent preference (set by our cookie banner): remembers which cookies you have accepted or declined, so we don't ask you on every page.
  • __cf_bm (Cloudflare, about 30 minutes): helps protect the site from bots and automated attacks.
  • _cfuvid (Cloudflare, session): helps Cloudflare apply fair rate limits so the site stays available.
  • cf_clearance (Cloudflare, up to 1 year): remembers that your browser has passed a security check.

Functional cookies (YouTube video)

The video on our homepage is hosted by YouTube (Google). It only loads if you accept functional cookies, because YouTube sets its own cookies to run the video player. YouTube may also use these cookies to measure views. If you decline, the video won't play, but the rest of the site works normally.
  • YSC, VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE, VISITOR_PRIVACY_METADATA, __Secure-YNID, __Secure-ROLLOUT_TOKEN, __Secure-BUCKET and __Secure-YEC (YouTube, from the end of your session up to 6 months): used by YouTube to run the video player, remember preferences, test features and measure viewing.

See Google's privacy policy for more.

WhatsApp chat button: stores a small note in your browser's local storage so the chat window doesn't keep reopening. It holds no personal information. If you start a chat, WhatsApp's own privacy policy applies.

Managing your cookies

You can change or withdraw your consent at any time with the Cookie settings link in our footer. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block strictly necessary cookies, parts of the site may not work properly.

Changes and contact

We review this policy when the cookies on our site change. Questions? Email mathsomatic1@gmail.com.
